“It's good to see that many young men care so deeply for each other and affirm each other so positively and with such great support. Great job staff well done!” Asheville, NC

Council

Perhaps more than any other aspect of the program, Council ceremonies and traditions challenge Rockmont campers to aspire to a high standard of character. Every Sunday evening, each camp (Junior, Intermediate, and Senior) gathers at respective Council sites on the mountainside to reflect upon the prior week.

At this time, boys are recognized for personal performance as it applies to attitude, enthusiasm, effort and cooperation. These are areas in which we feel all boys can excel, regardless of physical or intellectual stature and ability, and the ceremonies focus on these achievements more than on athletic or physical feats. It is during Council that the camp motto “Strength & Gentleness, Force & Refinement, Mastery of Body, and Servitude to God” is made meaningful to each camper in a personal way.

The highest rank in Council recognizes leadership and Christian dedication. This high honor brings unique privileges and carries special significance beyond the gates of Rockmont.
