The week in and around our nation’s capitol was a blast! After a wonderful showing and visit with the families in McLean, I was able to visit 2 other cities I have never been to — Bethesda, MD and Alexandria, VA.
In Bethesda, I visited the Imperial Family, with their sons and Rockmont campers Charlie & George. The Imperials were very gracious hosts, and we had a good number of new families come over to hear about Rockmont and the opportunities we have for their sons. As you can see from the picture, they were a fun group!
In Alexandria, the show was impacted by the threat of a storm, but a few brave veteran families made their way over to visit and say hi! It was great to see them and catch up on the year after camp. We also talked about what we have in the works for 2012. The Bayers were great hosts, and Amy sent me off with a nice bag of snacks for the road.
On my way back, I did stop off and spend some time with the guy who was nice enough to go to Divinity School and open up my job, Bert Ellison. Bert is a classic Rockmont’er, and it was a blessing to hear about how he is ministering to others at Duke.
This week is substantially lighter for me, with only 1 show in Knoxville, TN on Wednesday. It will be a beautiful drive through the Smokies on my way to Rocky Top! The fall colors are in their full glory this week.
All God’s Blessings,
