Leadership Training Program
The world tells you that you are too young to make a difference. They say you’re not ready. But what do you say?
Just as a catalyst speeds up a chemical reaction, the new Catalyst Leadership Training Program at Rockmont challenges its participants to consider what they can do here and now for the world, for God’s kingdom. Our young men today have not been told that they are both needed and able to do significant things.
Through this new evolution of the old CIT program, we want to partner with families in helping their teenagers become young men who initiate a life of service towards others. We want these young men who go through the Catalyst program to know that their community needs them to begin contributing even now, and to understand that they have the heart and the skills to do just that.
What will Catalysts be doing?
The program incorporates aspects of leadership training, includes increased interaction with campers and counselors, and will provide for significant times of evaluation and reflection.
This is a service-intensive program. Participants will assist with skills, participate in work projects, help cover cabins (assisting counselors), assist in leading worship, and participate in service projects both on and off camp. Of course, we will also have some times for off-camp adventure to include some overnight camping and a Mount Mitchell hike. These young man have many special activities planned just for them. A unique camaraderie will be formed as this group lives and serves together, setting a firm foundation for life-long friendships.

Program Details
Participant Age – Priority will be given to 16-year-olds during registration. 15-year-olds who turn 16-years-old during the summer will also be accepted to the program.
Program Size & Length – Because there will be a significant amount of peer review within a small group setting, the program will be limited to 12 participants per session. A participant may only register for one 2-week session. A Wait List will be available for interested applicants once a session has filled.
Travel Plans – Participants will need to arrive on the opening Sunday of their session between 1pm and 3pm. Departure is scheduled for the closing Friday between 9am and 12 noon.
Interview & Essay – After the parent or guardian completes the Online Camper Application to register the young man, one of the Directors will contact him to discuss the program and what it will require. Also, the participant will be given instructions on an essay that will need to be submitted prior to arrival. Rockmont reserves the right to accept or deny applications for Leadership Training positions according to the applicant’s qualifications.
Dining Hall Responsibility – The dining hall responsibility will no longer be part of the daily work to the same degree it has been in the past. While there will be some work in the dining hall, it will not be every meal, every day. Catalyst participants will see the “bigger picture” when it comes to service at camp.
