Summer Camp Positions
Camp staff can have an incredibly positive and lasting impact on a child’s life. In which staff position will you have the greatest influence?

Cabin Staff
All cabin staff serve as leaders and mentors to a group of 8-12 campers with whom they live. Daily responsibilities include building positive relationships, leading activities, playing hard, guiding cabin devotions, promoting self-discipline and self-awareness among campers, safeguarding campers physically and emotionally, and more. Each cabin staff member will also teach or assist with two Rockmont skills.
Required Certifications: First Aid.
Counselor, minimum age 19; Base Pay: $225/week
Assistant Counselor, minimum age 18; Base Pay: $180/week
Junior Counselor, minimum age 17; Base Pay: $130/week

Day Camp Staff
Day Camp staff guide a “pod” of 5 to 10 boys and girls as they discover new skills, explore the natural world, and build community each weekday from 8:30am to 5:00pm. Pod Leaders and Assistants use waterfront play, outdoor adventure, group games, and other activities to inspire creative learning and personal growth for each child. Day Camp staff who live on camp will be assigned additional evening and weekend responsibilities.
Required Certifications: First Aid
Pod Leader, minimum age 18; Base Pay: $225/week
Pod Assistant, minimum age 16; Base Pay: $130/week

Program Staff
In addition to a program staff member’s primary tasks, each individual may be assigned additional responsibilities that support the overall camp program. As a residential working community, it is important that all members maintain an attitude of willingness to serve the greater camp mission.
Adventure Team
Minimum age 19; Base Pay: $225/week.
The Adventure Team works to build a strong sense of community through adventure activities. A-Team members lead 3-Day backpacking trips and overnight Tribal Camp Outs. They also maintain the Rockmont Challenge Course, pack food and necessary supplies for camp outs, and manage our camping inventory. We are looking for staff who enjoy working with campers of all ages, have a passion for teaching, and have experience in leading outdoor pursuits.
Required Certifications: Wilderness First Responder or Wilderness First Aid
Camp Photographer
Minimum age 19; Base Pay: $225/week.
The Camp Photographers are responsible for taking digital photos and uploading them daily to an online gallery. These individuals must be organized, self-motivated, and technologically savvy!
Riding Instructors
Minimum age 19; Base Pay: $225/week.
Riding instructors prepare campers for half-day trail rides by providing instruction in the riding ring, which includes the fundamentals of horse care, general safety around horses, and riding basics. Instructors will also guide campers through riding obstacles that are appropriate for each camper’s determined riding ability level. Riding instructors must have prior riding experience.

Water Ski and Wake Board Instructors
Minimum age 19; Base Pay: $225/week.
Water Ski and Wake Board Instructors work with a small group of campers on Lake James, teaching them the basics of water sports and creating a safe environment for campers to learn new skills and have lots of fun. Instructors must be safe boat drivers, patient teachers, supportive coaches, and experienced skiers or wake boarders. Safety is our highest priority on the lake. Therefore, instructors will attend a thorough boat and safety orientation that includes hours of supervised boat operation.
Required Certifications: Waterfront Lifeguard, CPR/AED, First Aid
Waterfront Staff
Minimum age 18; Base Pay: $225/week.
Waterfront staff safeguard our campers and staff by orienting them to the waterfront, being vigilant and enforcing waterfront rules, conducting regular buddy checks, and performing waterfront facility maintenance. They will also teach camp skills such as Aquatic Sports, Instructional Swimming, Competitive Swimming, and Community Water Safety. Waterfront staff participate in regular in-service training that review waterfront rescues, practice risk management, and promote physical conditioning.
Required Certifications: Waterfront Lifeguard, CPR/AED, First Aid
Preferred though not Required: WSI
Camp Rockmont reserves the right to make occasional exceptions to the minimum age requirements listed for each position above.

Pay Bonuses
Full Season Bonus
Any staff member who works the Full Season will earn an additional $100 at the end of the summer.
Early Signing Bonus
Veteran staff who return a Full Season Contract, postmarked by December 31, 2011, will be mailed a $100 bonus.
Recruiting Bonus
Veteran staff will earn an additional $100, paid at the end of the summer, for each Full Season Cabin Counselor that is hired as a result of your referral.
